Dr. Mary McHugh joined New Jersey Urology in 2017 and is a board eligible urologist. She received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and was elected to multiple national honor societies. Dr. McHugh graduated in the top 20 percent of her class from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and received distinction for her academic and leadership achievements. She was awarded the Morton E. Terry Memorial Leadership Scholarship, inducted into the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society, and was the recipient of the prestigious Dean’s Award.
Dr. McHugh completed her general surgery internship and urology residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She was elected Chief Resident in her final year of training. In addition, she received specialized training by participating in extracurricular courses in inflatable penile prosthesis surgery, mid-urethral sling insertion for female stress urinary incontinence, placement of InterStim® sacral neuromodulator and in GreenLight® laser treatment for benign prostate hyperplasia.
Dr. McHugh has participated extensively in research and has presented at national meetings on a range of topics, including inflatable penile prosthesis removal techniques, priapism, prostate cancer, renal trauma, robotic management of stone disease, and robotic ureteral reconstruction with buccal mucosal graft. In addition, she has served as a peer reviewer for major urologic journals.
Dr. McHugh is married and participates in numerous outdoor sports, including snowboarding, hiking, and tennis. She has completed two marathons and a triathlon is a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoys traveling.
